Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi everyone! My name is Nina Yousefi and I am a 35 year old graphic designer. I have my own advertising and marketing agency and love what I do. For now it's just me and my fur baby, a fluffy Pomeranian who makes me smile everyday! I do have a boyfriend who is amazing and who also uses the bands when he works out (which isn’t often lol)!
When and why did you started working out?
I have always led an active lifestyle, from playing volleyball to going to the gym, hot yoga, to kickboxing. I like changing it up from time to time and keeping myself interested with variety.
How did you first hear about Victorem?
I had seen all the Instagramers using resistance bands and had never really used them before but I travel a lot for work and thought it would be a great way to stay active while on the go. So I went on Amazon and started searching. I was looking for something that was inexpensive but that felt complete. Then I came across the Victorem kit (several bands of different strength and came in the handy case) I thought, "this looks great!" So I went for it!
What was your first workout with Victorem bands?
My first workout was a combination of high intensity workouts at the gym. I took them with me and incorporated them into what I usually do. At first it was a little odd. I wasn’t familiar with how to use them very well, sometimes I wish they were a little wider for some exercises.
What’s your favorite exercise using the bands?
I currently purchased an apartment and the entire top floor of the building is an area with a running track, BBQ's, grass and a children’s playground. I also have a gym in the building but I tend to like working out outdoors, so I started taking them upstairs with me to use outside. I actually find them quite versatile, I use them a lot with the playground and posts that are around the area, I anchor them to the stairs or the top of the swings and get creative with how I can use them everyday. I don’t have a favorite exercise really. I like that I can use them for almost every major muscle group.
What changes did you notice when you started using resistance bands (physically or mentally).
I really like them, I feel like I am getting more of a workout out in with the resistance but without the need to use weights which I don’t always have the ease of having with me. If you’re traveling or want to switch up your routine this is a great way to go. Once you get the hang of it you really have endless possibilities on how to work out using them. I still discover new ways every week and know I still have more to go!
What motivates you?
I think I’m like most people, I’m not always motivated, and sometimes finding motivation again is the hardest part. What I have found is that when I go for a few weeks without training, running back to the gym to lift heavy or do hours of cardio is the last thing I want to do. Instead I grab my Victorem gear resistance bands and I can get a great workout in without feeling like I am pushing myself too hard to get back into the routine of training.
What would you say to someone just starting out using resistance bands?
I would say to get creative, have fun and it helps to follow a few trainers on social media who use bands to get an idea on how to start. I also suggest getting a variety of band strengths, what might seem heavy for arms is perfect for legs, so a good variety kit like Victorem’s is great. I also want to say that one of my bands broke only after using it for two weeks. I wasn’t creating any added pressure or doing anything out of the norm with them but I contacted the company and they were amazing, in less than a week they replaced the band no problem! All I did was send them a picture of the broken band and poof! Four days later I got it in the mail! Sooooo, their customer service is excellent too!
Are there any fun facts about yourself that you haven’t told anyone?
I tend to share quite a bit about myself, I like to be an open book with those around me and help others when I can so I’m not sure if I have any major secrets to tell but a few fun facts are:
- I speak three languages
- I have visited more that 25 countries
- I love to paint and draw
- I won first place in an iceskating competition when I was 10 years old
- I enjoy horseback riding and wake-boarding
- Working out is my favorite therapy! So if you’re considering using the bands, I think they’re a great way to feel better and look better! Go for it!
